Makes me wish he would collaborate with Peter Gabriel on an album. There may be a serious synergy there. Something is missing musically from this, something that Gabriel might add.... Hmm.

1973 - For those who like their Jazz best served with a shake of funk and ice rockin' like no tomorrow should check these two albums if not already.

Billy Cobham - Spectrum (1973)

- Spectrum
(Larger than life celebration of fusion without ever becoming abstract

- Stratus
(One of the craziest tunes ever best known and sampled perhaps by Massive Attack in "Safe from Harm")

- Red Baron
(Taking the essence of blues and funk, baking it to jazz and sending it to another dimension)

Herbie Hancock - Headhunters (1973)

- Chameleon
(Sampled by too many to list here, probably one of the most important pieces to contribute to a whole new genre of music known as Hip Hop. Again, a track not for the grounded ones)

- Sly
(Herbie Hancock, Bill Summers and Bennie Maupin on stereoids. Theres no other way of explaining this track.

Mellencamp...Uh huh...cd

I lost my last copy when my car was stolen, went and got another one ths am. Must be my 5th one, LOL!

In my top 5

Music..in your face, drunken, slovenly unapologetic RnR that needs a shave.
4.8

Sound 4.5, just a tad hot

Out Stones's the Stones!!!

This is the album that Mick and Keith should have released in 1982, instead of whatever shite they released.

Kevin, always good selections. Looking forward to listening to a few I have not heard.

Miles Davis - In a Silent Way

Lot of Chick Corea and John McLaughlin influence on this one. Side 1 (only two tracks total) sounds almost like Return to Forever. I have not listened to this one in a long time. Excellent.

And it was sounding soooo sweet on those DeVore's...I'm in music heaven. Unfortunately I have to leave my little enclave of music to go out of town for a few hours...back this evening! Today I spent some time meticulously leveling my turntable and cd player...just feels nice...lol!

BTW I have those Emmylou's and really like 'em. I'm a bit bit of a twang-o-phile as well as a jazz and classical nut. Just ordered Levon Helm's "Electric Dirt" and Son Volt's "American Central Dust"...can't wait to get'em.

James Taylor - "Like Everyone She Knows" and "Native Son" from New Moon Shine

James Taylor - "Belfast to Boston" and "Carry Me on My Way" from October Road

stryvn's gonna cry when he reads this one.

I found what I thought could be an Alice Cooper LP in the used "Collectable" section of a local Half Price Books store today. It was there for 2 years minding its own business. Originally selling for $35 I was able to get it for $10.

There was a monochromatic image of Alice on the front cover and the band members on the back cover. The one word on the front cover was "Sick". There was also a typed label stuck on the front cover with the words:

Alice Cooper
Live
1969-1981

The back cover listed the songs in red type as:

Side One-
Under My Wheels (Live 1978)
Billion Dollar Babies (Live 1978)
Is It My Body (San Francisco 1969)
I'm You Pain (El Paso 1981)
I Never Cry (El Paso 1981)

Side Two-
Eighteen (El Paso 1981)
Caught In A Dream (San Francisco 1969)
Second Coming (San Francisco 1969)
You and Me (El Paso 1981)

There are no other notes, no liner notes, this is not a gatefold cover, nothing. The album label simply identifies the recordings as:

Stellar
Music Special
Series 1 Show Two
Side 1 (or 2)
SMS-002-1
San Francisco
Bands (PT1)

I cannot find anything on this LP anywhere.

Ridiculous that this would actually be a small compilation of bootleg live Alice Cooper performances from 3 different venues across 12 years. The three cuts from 1969 are noisy and grainy and appear to be genuine Cooper. The other six cuts are clearly Cooper at its best jamming out there hits in a live venue.

M - 5.0
S - 3.5

I would be interested if anyone else has this or has heard it.

Amazing Neil, I bow to the Master of the web search engine. I looked high and low for something on this LP and came up with nothing.

However I could not agree more with this post that someone put up about someone else they knew who also has this LP;

En Ami says:

Nice, I've seen this before. A friend of a friend showed me a copy years ago. He wouldn't let me touch it though.

stryvn, the 69' cuts are noisy but raw.

The rest of the cuts are very good quality for this type of recording and the band really jams. If you find yourself in Dallas one day you will be sure to hear it!
