Bronze Member Username: JodavisToronto, Ontario Canada Post Number: 16 Registered: Apr-09 | Hello. I am about to make a final decision an my integrated stereo amp brand for my Cerwin Vega D-9's.. I'm sure lots of you know me. I'm talking to you Nuck! lol. Anyway, I want to make my decision based on which amp has more grunt, bass and true clean power. Would a nad integ. stereo amp suit me better or Marantz and all the others I listed be better? And also, is it better to go with a integ. stereo amp or should I go with separates? for eg, the source, pre, eq, and power amp? |

Bronze Member Username: JodavisToronto, Ontario Canada Post Number: 17 Registered: Apr-09 | Yea. I heard of rotel. That is a bit more on the high high audiophile side. Too clean or light and not enough "dirt". That is not my style. haha. If I get a NAD stereo integ. amp and connect it to my A/V receiver so I don't waste my A/V, will I lose the bass tones and qualities from the NAD? In other words, the receiver is the pre pre, the NAD stereo amp will be the pre, and then the power amp. Quality loss from the NAD? |

Platinum Member Username: NuckPost Number: 12934 Registered: Dec-04 | Julien, if you want to try a Rotel power amp, send me a pm. You can try mine. It is a 5 channel amp, you can bi-amp the CV's. Maybe... |

Platinum Member Username: ArtkAlbany, Oregon USA Post Number: 10241 Registered: Feb-05 | That's what I'm talkin' about! |
Gold Member Username: Frank_abelaBerkshire UK Post Number: 3735 Registered: Sep-04 | Nobody's mentioned the Krell? In terms of sheer grunt, power and slam, the Krell will have the rest of these amps for breakfast. I don't find that Krells time particularly well, but then neither do the Marantz or Rotels - the NAD is a bit more fluid in this respect, but I'd be surprised if you found an NAD with the same fidelity and power, slam and grunt. |
Platinum Member Username: ArtkAlbany, Oregon USA Post Number: 10297 Registered: Feb-05 | I didn't mention Krell because it's in a price class not associated with CV speakers. Also if he thinks that Rotel "is a bit more on the high high audiophile side"...well, nuff said ! |
Silver Member Username: SoundgameToronto, Ontario Canada Post Number: 885 Registered: Jun-08 | I believe this might be the one Frank had in mind. For a Krell it's big bang for the buck at around $5000 U.S. I believe - but whether that's affordable all depends and at that price there is other gear out there to compare with: http://www.krellonline.com/krell_component.php?id=110&page=S300i |
Platinum Member Username: ArtkAlbany, Oregon USA Post Number: 10301 Registered: Feb-05 | Again George, the OP stated that Rotel "is a bit more on the high high audiophile side". Where does Krell fit into that...lol...probably doesn't. Never know I guess. |

Gold Member Username: Touche6784USA Post Number: 1337 Registered: Nov-04 | Why not go proaudio like Behringer or a used Carver amp. |
Gold Member Username: Frank_abelaBerkshire UK Post Number: 3742 Registered: Sep-04 | Well, I mentioned the Krell because he mentioned it in the thread title...! |
Gold Member Username: Touche6784USA Post Number: 1338 Registered: Nov-04 | Frank, I think it has been established pretty well that this guy has no idea what he is talking about so he probably didn't know what Krell was. |
Platinum Member Username: NuckPost Number: 12974 Registered: Dec-04 | A 300i ? Get one cheap for a Krell. Drop the gavel on a Hafler! |
Silver Member Username: SoundgameToronto, Ontario Canada Post Number: 887 Registered: Jun-08 | Looks like we've spend more time than him on this thread. He laid one and ran...where is Julie...come into the light. |
Gold Member Username: Touche6784USA Post Number: 1339 Registered: Nov-04 | George, that seems to be this guys pattern. He asks the same stupid question then vanishes. |
Platinum Member Username: NuckPost Number: 12988 Registered: Dec-04 | Huh! At least I ask stupid questions and stick around for the results... |

Bronze Member Username: EzntnTN Post Number: 20 Registered: Apr-09 | I do like my Rotel, for most any and every thing that plays thru it. As for Carver, I gave my old 2000 receiver to Son-in-law several years back when we upgraded to the Rotel. He's never hooked it up. Insult to injury, they robbed knobs off it a few years ago to for a robot costume !!! The pain .. |
