They didnt make it on the truck yesterday. Todays the day. It says net weight 188 lbs. Nht ended up paying for in house delivery at $70 more. I needed that since I have cerebral palsy and walk with crutches.
Really sorry to read that Sean. I hope these speakers bring you much pleasure - let us know how they sound, they'll need some running in naturally, but first impressions are always good to read.
I finally got my nht's! First impressions are that these are power hungry and from what I can tell so far I will need mono blocks for the sub section. Luckily I already have them. They are the 125 watt mono blocks from av123 for $150 each. Ive heard some bass come out of these and I think they sound pretty good they just need more power to the subs. I have a digital camera guys but I need to charge it up to take pics. These are purrrty haha.
Yeah I tried leaving them at the volume I had the 525 towers at and they werent having it. But when I gave it more volume they started to come alive. Im hoping putting the mono block amps on solves the power issue.
I've heard the Classic 3's on a McIntosh amplifier at 300w/ch, almost max'd and they sounded pretty great. Really huge soundstage, transparent and not fatiguing in the least. Phenomenal bass for a bookshelf that would complete with a number of towers. For my tastes, just a tad bit polite in the top end but that's just me and I like a little more lively top end (could have been the NHT/Mc match). They are overall laid back but a great speaker in their own right. I can't see the NHT4 having much more on the 3, just more bass, which to me was not necessary when the Classic3 is powered sufficiently. However, the 4's should be even more versitile. All the best with it and make sure to report back. Cheers.
Yes. The 4's require a good amount of power to get the best from. I really think the Jamo's would have been his best bet with his present gear. However with patience, being able to cope with the present sound long enough to afford an amp upgrade, the Classic 4's will definitely reward Sean with the kind of sound that he stated he was looking for.
