Cd Player Warm-Up

My NAD 510 will read "no disc" for 30-40 minutes after startup, then, everything is typically fine. Its first six years never required a warm-up period so my question is this: is this warm-up period a symptom of age or can i expect to find a specific culprit that can be serviced or, as i expect, i've simply got an aged unit so i should just be happy the thing even still plays and in fact, i should just leave the thing on 24/7 because that's how REAL equipment is designed to be used. What say you?
