Need help with speaker impedance

Anonymous
Will I experience any problems if I use 6 ohm speakers as my main speakers and 8 ohm speakers for center, surround and sub? I don't want to mess up my receiver. Thanks

don't know if this area has a moderator...

you do need to know what the wattage of your reciever is, and the wattage that your speakers can handle... might also be helpful to know what the decibel rating of your speakers are too.

A 50 watt reciever can power a 89 decibel speaker
as well as a 100 watt can power a 87 decibel one.
(higher the decibels the less the power needed)

Ohm's are like the diameter of a pipe. watts
are like the amount of current running through them. If one Ohm (size of a bowling ball) is run on 100 watts, it would be like 100 bowling balls hitting your speakers at once. What wattage can your 6 ohm speakers handle?

100 watts run through a 6 ohm speaker is like 70 watts run through an 8 ohm etc...

give us more info then we can answer

hey i have a Sony STRDE675 Amplifier and i have 6 Ohm speakers running through the amp so how much wattage would i get?
