Rock on Mike! Call me deprived but the only song I can name and hum to from Black Sabbath is "Zero the Hero"..."watcha gonna be, watcha ya gonna be, brother?"

Loud is good, louder is better for metal and heavy rock.

Cheers.

Led Zeppelin - The Song Remains the Same
Remastered CDR from stryvn

Bluddy loud (eCoustics does not allow for the correct spelling)

Which leads me to a question, does anybody else turn it way up and then as your ears are screaming "enough already" slowly start turning it down but by the time you get to a low enough level to leave the volume where it is at you still get the sense of the music you had when you had the volume peaked?

Queensryche-Operation Mindcrime. Just picked this up on CD.

I had this album on vinyl back in 1988 and listened to it a few times. Then I saw them open for Metallica and was totally blown away. I went home and listened to the album again and again. Excellent production with the big 80's drum sound.

I've listened to it in it's entirety twice this week already.

David,

How much was the recording versus how much was the McIntosh in terms of your appreciation for the production?

Which did you appreciate the CD or the vinyl?

I don't have the vinyl anymore (nor do I have a TT), so I bought it on CD.

I think it was a little bit of both, Mike. I remember way back when and hearing it and thinking it was something pretty different. From what I read, it was one of the first albums recorded digitally (whatever that means), and record execs balked at the crisp, open, digital sound of it.

Hearing it on a good system obviously makes a big difference. I liked it on my cheap Yamaha system when I was a teenager - I LOVE it on my Mac/Totem system now :-)

Echoes - The Best of Pink Floyd
180 Gram 4LP vinyl import from Holland

stryvn, you need to own this one!!!

http://store.acousticsounds.com/browse_detail.cfm?Title_ID=9633

The sound quality is absolutely superb!

I had kept this sealed for a few months, waiting for when I had my kit just where I wanted it. This album does not disappoint even the slightest.

George, a little more piercing but not as harsh. I would say it is more listenable on vinyl.

I used it to warm up my kit and my ears for the Pink Floyd of which I am currently listening to on the turntable.
