OK, I have only dealt with focal for a short time and I just bought 1 set of 130k polykevlar (front) and one set of 165v2 polyglass (rear). I am running them with a PPI pcx 480 (also new). I got a burning smell out of the front ones for a while and now it seems to have gone away. I just put the new polyglass ones in the rear today and again i am getting a burning smell. I assume it's the voice coil thats tryin to die on me and thats not good on brand new speakers. I checked Polarity and it was good. The system really isn't clipping even at high volumes. I am rinning 2 focal sets (a 165v2 and a 130k) with a precision Power pcx480 4 ch amp.
FEW QUESTIONS: Probably a stupid question, but does the burning voice coil perminently hurt sound quality of the speaker?
Would turning my amp down or turning my crossover switches to -6 db instead of 0db help?
Is anyone else having this same problem? please let me know what you did to fix it.
