Is there any hum or fan noise from the Pioneer Elite receivers? What are the THD ratings for the 53TX and 55TXi?

There are only heat sinks on the Elite's---no fans. So they are even quiter than a church mouse. The THD is very low (look up the 45tx, they are probably identical to that) and the THD is definitely inaudible. Your speakers will have far more distortion.
