Got my Sttafs back from my dealer yesterday. The crossovers were fine, but the woofers were toast. They replaced both the woofers for me with no charge for labour.
I listened to them last night for a couple of hours. They sound like new speakers to me. Before one sounded a little different than the other one to me, but now they're perfectly matched. They sound a little tighter now too.
Good for you David. I'm sure it feels a little like you just bought them new. Take care of those babes...they are a sweet pair of ladies - you'll need to hold off with the rough stuff from now on.
No, I never got to see them George, although that would have been kinda neat. My dealer did tell me that they more "most definitely blown" which I guess means I had catastrophically destroyed them.
No Ascends yet. They cleared customs yesterday, so I'm hoping I get them today. It's been 2 weeks.
Me too Nuck. The last time I ordered something significant from the states turned out be a fiasco (remember Emotiva?). I spoke with David Fabrikant from Ascend personally about my bad experiences before and he assured me that they have a lot experience shipping stuff internationally with no issues.
This time I got it shipped USPS so I'm hoping I don't get dinged too heavily on the brokerage/duties. The upside is that the Ascends are manufactured in the US, and they ship with the required NAFTA paperwork.
