Each zone (Great room, master suite, den, and office) features 2 speakers in the ceiling and a wall mounted volume control/channel selector/source. The great room has 3 sets of Red & Black RCA inputs (1 for each channel), the den has 1 set for the 4th channel, and the office has 1 input for an override in that room only. I am looking for a receiver that will power at least 2 channels in the great room and have the ability to power a surround sound system with the addition of some additional speakers and subwoofer without purchasing an additional receiver for the home theater. I've done a bit of research and have settled on the Onkyo TX-SR506 http://www.onkyousa.com/model.cfm?m=TX-SR506&class=Receiver&p=i because it has a powered zone 2 with line out and plenty of options for a home theater. 1. This is a good receiver for my needs, yes? 2. Will this receiver easily power my multi zone audio system individually (only listening to one channel in single zone), split (listen to ch 1 in great room, and ch 2 in den), and throughout (listen to ch 1 in all rooms). I've heard of receivers powering off because of being overloaded. 3. Will it give me the ability to add surround speakers (such as polk 150 bookshelves) & sub so I can watch a movie in the great room and my wife can listen to music in the den simultaneously? 4. If I add a sub and other speakers, will I be able to listen to music through the additional speakers and sub AND the ceiling speakers? Ceiling speakers are rated 50 watts and 8 ohm with 16 guage wire.
