My newly acquired Rotel RA-02 integrated does not have a sub-out. It does, however, have pre-outs for L/R, which I'll be running ICs to my Rotel RB-1070.
I would like to run a sub with this rig, and I understand I can use the speaker level inputs/outputs on the sub to connect. I'd rather not have all the speaker wire running all over the place.
What I was thinking is running a Y adapter (MFF) from one of the pre-outs, and connecting the sub to this Y.
This *should* work, since the low frequency signals are basically mono, right?
I have a similar setup....my integrated has pre-outs which run to the sub.
Don't forget, that with this setup and NO external x-over, your 'mains' will still run full range. At hi amplitudes, with lots of bass content you could still overdrive the mains without the sub even breaking a sweat.
Leo, I'm not worried about my mains running full range, they dip down to about 35 hz, I believe and have the x-over on the sub set as low as it can go.
Bingo! My panels go to a claimed 36hz, I have the X-over on my HSU set to about 40 hz and I have bass that'll rattle your fillings. Very seamless, good for music or HT.
hehehe...the 2 channel input to the sub will mean 3db increase in sound, Daviv, along with ant 'non mono' stuff that you will see from the upper roll-off.
