I never liked the 192. Very smooth, with reasonable but not great resolution, no dynamics, no drive. I really didn't get on with it. Just found it boring - and preferred the much cheaper CD73T since it had some life and sparkle.
The CD17 is a completely different kettle of fish. I've only tried it in all-Arcam systems but I think it's a cracker! Beautifully built with that FMJ case, it sounds fun and fast with excellent resolution and good drive. It needs good partnering equipment and cabling to give its best of course - the A28 is a natural partner and Chord's Chorus interconnect works extremely well in that context. As for speaker cable, I'm getting great results with Naim cable which is a surprise because earlier Arcams (e.g. A70, A90, A85) sounded too full in the bass with that cable.
