I didn't realize how good this CD sounds until today. If you have speakers that don't overdo and bloat the bass, it sounds phenominal. It was a bit lack-luster on my old PSB Image T55s. On my Yaras, its on par with some of the most respected recordings - ie Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall. Seriously. There's a lot of detail and soundstaging that wasn't there before.

You are the first person to list Zorn here, outstanding...I applaud you. Very unique music and has a whole bunch of folks who have worked with him that gone on to outstanding careers...Dave Douglas for instance.
Kirk, Battles.... strong. And yes Zorn's Masada canon has some wonderful songs.
Art, Thanks friend! I find it strange no one else on here is loving John Zorn. He is my my musical god. From his own playing, to his compositions, conducting/arranging, producing, his labels, everything about his world I cherish.
The list of people he has turned me onto, by association, is immense. And they contribute hundreds of CDs to my collection.
Just to name a very few: Dave Douglas Bill Laswell Marc Ribot Buckethead Ikue Mori Wayne Horvitz Joey Baron (so good) Secret Chiefs 3 Ruins Derek Bailey Trey Spruance Eyvind Kang Bill Frisell
and on and on.
To list them all would be a bigger post than my Zorn list above.
I will buy absolutely ANYTHING that come out on the Tzadik label, as well as his defunct? Japanese label Avant, under DIW.
Jan, I have done "transfers" of my entire vinyl library. The process is fairly simple and the end result is fabulous provided you have a REALLY NICE analog kit.
When we converted to Digital, we encoded to a 24 bit (word depth) and 96khz (sampling rate). FYI, standard "Red Book" CDs are 16 bits with a 44.1 khz sample rate. This is what we all have been purchasing since the 80s.
When converting analog to digital, one has the ability to encode to a much higher resolution.
Fortunately, the two kits i have "borrowed" to get the transfers done, are top notch.
Paul Simon...negotiations and love songs..on the big dog. Me and Julio...as always, something delightfully different fron Paul...
Singles Entre Nous...Rush...MoFi master cd She ain't pretty...Northern Pikes Shattered...Barney Bental The Cult..Born to be wild...seriously,ferociously loud
And..Jeff Healy...Mess of Blues. ..Highly recommended cd!
That Notting Hillbillies is a gem Mike. Different, but a gem nonetheless. I'm going to set that up next. ....After Lennie Kravitz Mama Said and Circus.
Stryvn, "And Mark Knopfler's Ragpicker's Dream. This guy's been borrowing JJ Cale's stuff for an entire career. I dig."
Last night I had a few beers with an old friend I hadn't seen in years. He was telling me he'd recently seen Mark Knopfler live, and came away impressed. I have most of the Dire Straits stuff on vinyl, but no solo MK. Any recommendations on where to start?
Couple of recent listens - Beatles Abbey Road -vinyl ARS - The Best of ARS -cd
Sem, One of my favorites from MK is Local Hero. It's got a solo feel to it and is Dire Straits-ish at the same time. The Ragpicker's is pretty good. And the Chet Atkins effort, Neck And Neck, is good as well.
