But I wouldn't base a buying decision on that alone. There's not way you can hear them both? |

Gold Member Username: DmitchellOttawa, Ontario Canada Post Number: 1063 Registered: Feb-07 | I've owned both brands. Based on build quality I'd go with Polk. based on sound quality I'd go with Klipsch. It depends a lot on your source gear, too. |
Bronze Member Username: HddvdPost Number: 31 Registered: Nov-07 | sorry that i havnt had a chance to reply. This is the receiver that i plan on using: http://www.yamaha.com/yec/products/productdetail.html?CNTID=558291&CTID=5000300 i plan on using this setup mainly for HT. |

Gold Member Username: GavdawgAlbany, New York Post Number: 1178 Registered: Nov-06 | If you are looking at using yamaha, I would also recommend looking at Paradigm and Energy speakers as well. They blend better with Yamaha than the Klipsch IMHO. |
Gold Member Username: DmitchellOttawa, Ontario Canada Post Number: 1074 Registered: Feb-07 | Paradigms or Energys would smooth out the Yamaha nicely. Yamaha and Klipsch together would only sound good if you like the sound of metal garbage cans being dragged down the street behind your car. |
Bronze Member Username: HddvdPost Number: 32 Registered: Nov-07 | what about yamaha and the polks?? |
Bronze Member Username: MikewPost Number: 18 Registered: Jul-06 | Ravindra, Since you are saying HT, Klipsch reference are very very good for HT. If you plan to use it for music & HT, Paradigm studios can do a better job as they are more all round speakers. You can also make klipsch good for Music by adding some tube integrateds like Jolida / Sophia Electric at a later time for $400 on Audiogon. Also, for HT with klipsch...Yamaha is a bad choice. Harman kardon, Marantz are two lines that work better with Klipsch...even Pioneer. I am not sure what your budget is....But you can do better using some medium priced HT reciever from H/K and then add some pre-owned 3 channel amps from B&K / Parasound (from Audiogon) to create an awesome HT set-up. B&K and Parasound have very good synergy with Klipsch speakers. If you need more directed feedback, let folks know the budget you are working with and you will see some very nice suggestions from folks on this great forum. Mike |

New member Username: DoogxelaIndianapolis, IN U.S.A. Post Number: 1 Registered: Jul-08 | I'm this close to buying the same speakers and receiver the original poster talks about. This is the first time I've run across someone saying that Yamaha receivers don't play well with Klipsch speakers, but this thread reads as if this were a commonly known thing. Could someone elaborate on this? Are there already threads that cover this I could be pointed to? |
Gold Member Username: GavdawgAlbany, New York Post Number: 1184 Registered: Nov-06 | certain yamaha receivers are on the bright side... likewise the same can be said about klipsch speakers. Supposedly the newer yamaha stuff isn't as bright, but the older stuff was terrible. |
Bronze Member Username: MikewPost Number: 19 Registered: Jul-06 | Alex, Klipsch speakersa re dynamic and are on the brighter side. That siw hy they fit HT needs very very well. Majority of the Yamaha Recievers are also on the brighter side. That does not mean Yamaha recievers are bad...they do go well with some laid back speakers. But pairing up brighter yamahas with brighter klipsch will make the system sound too harsh. Mike |
Gold Member Username: DmitchellOttawa, Ontario Canada Post Number: 1157 Registered: Feb-07 | Mike in right on the money. My Yamaha receiver actually sounds pretty darned with my PSB speakers. |
Platinum Member Username: NuckPost Number: 10506 Registered: Dec-04 | I didn't hear/understand that. Really. |
Gold Member Username: DmitchellOttawa, Ontario Canada Post Number: 1159 Registered: Feb-07 | Ah... thanks Nuck. lol... "pretty darned GOOD". My brain works faster than my keyboard. Which I guess is not really saying too much. |
Gold Member Username: ArtkAlbany, Oregon USA Post Number: 7249 Registered: Feb-05 | My Yammie works well in the HT role which it is filling. But with older warmer sounding speakers (at least the mains) |
Gold Member Username: DmitchellOttawa, Ontario Canada Post Number: 1160 Registered: Feb-07 | That's exactly what I was trying to say. |
Gold Member Username: ArtkAlbany, Oregon USA Post Number: 7251 Registered: Feb-05 | ....I knew that...lol! |
Gold Member Username: PetergalbraithCanada Post Number: 2183 Registered: Feb-04 | OTOH, lots of people on the Klipsch forums enjoy their Yamaha receivers. |
