Pink Floyd - The Wall (still one of the best CDs out there)

Porcupine Tree - Voyage 34 (closest thing to Pink Floyd's The Wall)

Porcupine Tree - anything else (best progressive rock in decades)

Harry Allen Quartet - (well recorded newer traditional jazz)

Peter Gabriel - Security (MASSIVE dynamic range and bass)

Peter Gabriel - Up (a little more compressed, but incredible, separates the macho speakers from the waify ones)

Abraxas Pool - self titled (for Santana fans)

Al Di Meola - Tour De Force Live (not well recorded, but a jazz guitar hero must have)

Los Enanitos Verdes - any (great, versatile band from Argentina)

Al Di Meola - Kiss My Axe (a bit synthetic, but very powerful)

Alabina - Alabina (unique Spanish/Middle Eastern combination)

The Bears - Live (progressive rock w/jazzy influences)

Dread Zeppelin - It's not unusual (pure disco fun!)

Everything But The Girl - any and all discs (well recorded jazz/pop/electronic/acoustic depending on CD)

Ishtar - Voice of Alabina - (French/Middle Eastern pop)

Was (not Was) - any CD (incredibly well recorded and fun pop R&B)

Juanes - Un Dia Normal (excellent spanish pop/rock)

Mana - Cuando Los Angeles Lloran (good Mexican pop/rock, driving drummer)

Marillion - Clutching at Straws, Misplaced Childhood remasters (incredible unknown progressive rock for Genesis/Pink Floyd/ELP fans)

Mr Mister - Go On..... (a bit poppy, but well recorded last album)

Thomas Dolby - Aliens Ate My Buick (50's style pop/jazzy cheesy fun)

Vanessa Daou - Slow to Burn (smooth, jazzy groove)

Wendy Woo Trio - any (folksy rock music we saw live at CEDIA)

Verve Remixed (classic jazz vocalists remixed in an electronic lounge style - very cool!!!!)

The Fixx - Ink (fun, straight ahead, no frills rock and roll jams)

Juan Luis Guerra & 4.40 - La Llave de mi Corazon (upbeat latin music with a 'gotta dance' title song)

El Tri - (kinda like latin ZZ Top, but more varied)

Radio IO jazz is the best thing in the world for jazz newbies too. Real jazz all the time.

I've been listening to the Rhapsody Acid Jazz station, though it's not acid jazz, but it's kinda like relaxed, downtempo, jazzy electronic stuff.

Sonny Rollins - Sonny, Please

I lived in New Mexico many moons ago. Lived in Farmington in the Four Corners area. Blew a woofer in my JBL's back in '81 and had to drive all the way to Albuquerque for a repair...it was fun anyway.

Thanks, Art. I always end up going back to the Give Us A Wink album. And for bubblegum (if that's your thing) the T-Rex Electric Warrior is pretty darn good. I understand why it ain't for many though.

Your contributions here, on the other hand, are unmatched. Well, Kevin has thrown in with quite the selection. Nice work....I only wish I had the time and the library.

Art, do you have Tour de Force Live? Great CD! Makes Elegant Gypsy almost seem like muzak by comparison. Jan Hammer, Stanley Clarke, etc, so it's like a fusion super group. I wish they'd remaster that one.

Unfortunately, since I have Sonos as my primary source, I'm listening to a hodgepodge of music all day, not any given CD.

Just back from 10 days on the rosd.
House is empty.
1 Bourbon, 1scotch to warm up, and 1 beer to set...

The Wallflowers..Bringing down the horse.
Very good, in a bad room.
Great album.

I could use a Wilbury's cd, if anybody has one.
I got the 4lp set, but alas, the table is muted and stored, lack of room.
Working on it.

Stryvn, "Jack Bruce - More Jack Than God"
Have the cd, thanks for the nudge, will spin it tonight. BTW, the title refers not to Eric Clapton but to guitarist Godfrey Townsend. During the recording of the cd the phrase was uttered when they wanted Bruce's levels up a little higher than Townsend's. At that point Jack Bruce said something to the effect - "gentlemen, we have the album title."

Bruce Cockburn - Breakfast in New Orleans, Dinner in Timbuktu
