Anyone can comment on the new Wharfedale Crystal series? Is the Crystal CR-40 better than Diamond 8.4? How is Crystal / Diamond compare with Acoustic-Energy evo3? As they are also different on ohms, any different on the sound quality between a 8ohms and a 6 ohms speaker? Thanks in advance as I'm a newbie in hifi and looking forward to get a Marantz SR-6300 but cannot decide on which speaker. Please help.
James... i'm also a newbie. i have a marantz sr4000 and am planning to buy new speakers. i'm considering wharfedale diamond 8.4. any information regarding this combination is welcome.

This from a Wharfedale USA rep -
"Yes they are bi-wireable They are rear ported Driver is 5" (same size as 8.1) Yes it is the exact same tweeter as the 8.1"
I think the 8.1 driver is actually 5.25", and they are front ported (so can be butted up to wall). I have a borrowed pair of Diamond 8.1's which I'm using for satellites, and I'm impressed by their sound. They're about $200 new - and the Crystal 10s are $90 a pair new (free shipping) at www.ecost.com - hence my firing a question off to IAGAMERICA (US Wharfedale branch)...
At $90, seems like you can afford to take a chance.

Hi,
I've looking into purchasing the 8.1s for a 5.1 setup. I noticed they're not magnetically shielded. Has anyone have problems putting them next to a TV stand ? Thanks in advance.
