Another question is about speakers layout. My room is 22X21 ft. my TV is now sitting at the corner of room because of the fireplace. The guy in the store said I will not get good sound if I stay that way and recommend me to move TV to the fireplace to get balanced sound effect. that's indeed a big sacrifice. I wonder how big I can gain from this sacrifice. Is TV at the corner a death penalty ?
If you guys are interested, I can upload some pics. Thanks.

AAAARGH! You know I really hate that too. I have passed on a few too many homes because of that stupid set up. These freakin' home builders just keep making the dadgum fireplaces a focal point. Just a rant on my part...I've always wonderd about this set-up...what say you HT heads???

if your using surround sound then yes it is worth the sacrifice. a surround system works by focusing the sound to a specific point in a square/rectangular room. then using the bounce to cover all areas. hence why speaker set ups usually say to put them at different heights. hope this helps
