Congrat's to Art - The Fred Sanford of audio salvage. Very efficient use of your resources!

Nuck - It sounds like you're well on your way to Audio nirvana. Or perhaps, if Helen has her way, well on your way to visiting that guy that started Nirvana.

I have had excellent results in conversations with the local Rega distributor and the folks at Rogue Audio, Mark answers the phone himself.

I have had little reason to speak with Gallo. I may have called once to discuss the sub-amp.

.

A quick explanation for the grasshoppers in the frozen tundra from the cicada in the land of frozen margaritas.

All the Republican candidates for President are white, rich and middle age. They all are trying to speak with the same tenor when confronted with any question. The Republican candidates get asked whether they believe in intelligent design - which implies they do not believe in evolution. Six out of ten respond they believe in intelligent design - implying they do not believe in evolution.

The Democratic candidates are a mixed crowd with a woman, an African American, a Latino and a Catholic. (The Republicans are all Protestant with one Mormon, otherwise mostly Baptist and one is an ordained minister.) The Democrats get asked if they believe in UFO's to which one says he has seen an UFO. The Democrats are all trying to sound unlike each other to set themself apart from the front runner.

So my advice is listen like a Democrat. Your system will be out of this world and your taste in music will be eclectic.

Buy like a Republican. Your system should be put together by intelligent design, sound rich and all parts should speak with the same voice.

I think that's pretty good advice.

Rudy's still a Catholic last I checked.

I hate to go down this road, but what the heck, I'm board.

Are there any avowed atheist amongst the Democrats? I don't think so, I think they're all Christians too last I checked, some even go to church I presume, but do they get asked questions about creationism, nah, that would be a problem, so it's UFOs & CO2 till Iowa.

If you think that's screwy, you should try politico here.

I just hate selling stuff. If it ain't the lowballers, it's the dreamers.
If anybody else kicks my tires, I might kick back.
What a PITA!

One guy emailed to ask about the PSB's. I told him, like in the ad, that they could use a go with a good buffer and baybe some McGuire's compound, as they are high gloss piano finish.
The stiff asked about the piano, as he always wanted a piano.
I sent him a joke about the 10" pianist.

Somebody just show up and take the 2 pairs of speakers, the Rotel player and the sub, leave a fair bit of cabbage. Just a fair bit.

I feel better now. Kinda.

Art, I apologize for never getting back to you. I never recieved any of your mails. I am running a Grado Blue I think on the TT. And still looking for a new mat. The Sanford & Son comment was not meant as an insult. lol...and I sure ain't hoping you get robbed! You find some of the screaminest deals I ever heard of. And I'm happy for ya!

Discovered a treasure chest of lp's today over in Dad's basement. More on that later. For now I have to search for a new stylus for Pops' old tt and work out a deal on the vinyl he's got buried. There may be a 127 classical album swap involved short term.

"Rudy's still a Catholic last I checked."

Rudy's twice divorced. I take it you're not Catholic, CM. There's Catholic and there's catholic. Rudy's quite the latter.

There is a Democrat in Congress who is a declared atheist.

I'm not sure what you mean by your creationism comment but I suspect there are plenty of questions that should be asked of both parties that aren't getting an airing. You sound upset that someone you dislike is not being skewered. Be patient. This should be a very dirty election.

Jezez! Sometimes you just can't give stuff away.

I finally got around to selling my screwy NAD L53 DVD/Receiver on eBay, and it got damaged in transit by UPS (It looks like someone at UPS dropped a bottle of Windex on it & re-boxed it) and was returned to me.

The unit was double-boxed, so while the outer-box was soaked, the inner box only damp, and the unit was in a plastic bag, so it was dry. I plugged it in & all is well, but still need to sell it if anyone is interested.

Only the disc unit is in screwy, all else is near-new working order.

The Philips MCD908/37...when this thing gets discounted a few months from now, it might be worth a look.

Premium Hi-Fi tubes for perfectly pure and natural sound
With built-in Hi-Fi Tubes, you can now experience sound of the highest quality thats usually only associated with premium audiophile systems. The analog nature of the tubes provides a more pleasing sound to our non-linear hearing system. Sound from a tube has low distortion and is always preferred for its clean and detailed, warm and life-like audio quality.

Class 'D' Digital Amplifier for quality sound performance
Class 'D' Digital Amplifier takes an analog signal, converts it into a digital signal and then amplifies the signal digitally. The signal then enters a demodulation filter to give the final output. The amplified digital output delivers all the advantages of digital audio, including improved sound quality. In addition, Class 'D' Digital Amplifier has greater than 90% efficiency compared to traditional AB amplifiers. This high efficiency translates into a powerful amplifier with a small footprint.

Neodymium Ribbon Tweeter for impressive audio fidelity
The Neodymium Ribbon Tweeter is a monopole tweeter that produces dynamic and crisp sound from the front. It is a feature commonly used in high-end audio systems to reproduce sound with excellent fidelity. Conventional cones and dome tweeters are based on a directional moving coil principle whereas the monopole Neodymium Ribbon Tweeter radiates high frequencies in a full 180-degree radiation pattern. This dramatically increases the width of the sound spectrum in the higher tones and expands the sweet spot zone to deliver wide, crystal-clear, and natural sound even from compact audio systems.

Dome mid range speakers and woofer for crystal clear sound
Prepare for stunning sound with the combination of a silk dome mid-high frequency speaker with an ultrasonic ribbon tweeter. The silk speaker delivers warm sound and the gauzy ribbon tweeter delivers clear and dynamic sound. What you'll experience is a harmonious blend of undistorted and uncolored wide-ranging sound ... that's as smooth as silk.

Gold-plated speaker connector for finest signal transmission
The Gold-plated speaker connector ensures better audio signal transmission compared to traditional click-fit connections. It also minimizes the electrical signal loss from the amplifier to the speaker box, resulting in sound reproduction that's as close to reality as possible.

HDMI out for digital high-definition video and digital audio
HDMI is a direct digital connection that can carry digital HD video as well as digital multichannel audio. By eliminating the conversion to analog signals it delivers perfect picture and sound quality, completely free from noise. HDMI is fully backward-compatible with DVI.

12-bit/108MHz video processing for sharp, natural images
12-bit Video DAC is a superior Digital-to-Analogue-Converter that preserves every detail of the authentic picture quality. It shows subtle shades and smoother graduation of colors, resulting in a more vibrant and natural picture. The limitation of the usual 10bit DAC become in particular apparent while using large screens and projectors.

Dolby Digital for ultimate movie experience
Because Dolby Digital, the world's leading digital multi-channel audio standards, make use of the way the human ear naturally processes sound, you experience superb quality surround sound audio with realistic spatial cues.

Leatherback and metal front remote control with flat keys
With a perfect balance of sleek dimensions with a comfortably light weight, this ergonomically designed remote control is a joy to use. Its slick metallic-finished flat key front is attractively contrasted with a genuine leather back cover. In addition, the stylish, precision-cut keypad ensures a qualitative navigation experience. Feel the splendor of pure design and control.

2x75W RMS/150W Total Power
Play DVD, DivX, (S)VCD, MP3-CD, WMA-CD, CD(RW) & Picture CD
Quality aluminum cabinet and real wood speakers

Actually, We have the Phillips MCD700/79 cd/dvd/tuner with similar speakers (no mid). The cd player is a top loader like the Apollo with similar central locking hub. It has a separate pre/power amp section like the one pictured above only no tubes. about 25 watts per channel and for what it is, the cd sound quality is quite remarkable. We use it when away on holidays.

But it won't recognise sacd's being basically a dvd player.

I wasn't impressed with it. Then again, in a large room/open store with a bunch of other stuff going like TVs and a bunch of stupid iPod based mini systems, the opportunity for it to do well wasn't there.

To be honest, I couldn't tell if the tubes themselves were glowing or if it was an orange back light. It was pretty feint. Not to mention that it didn't seem as though they were easily replacible, if they are at all.

I think its like just about everything else in the Sharper Image. All looks, no substance. Their stuff kind of reminds me of B&O or Bose gear. Its not designed with sound quality in mind. Its designed to visually appeal to a certain target customer. The kind who puts form over function/substance. Not that their stuff is visually appealing to me, but I'm sure it is to a lot of people.

Thank for the kind words, guys.

Once we move into the new house, get everything unpacked, decorated...etc; I'll take some good quality pictures of my systems, with this new camera we have.

She knows how to work it better than I do, she knows all the appropriate/correct settings for what ever the situation. I'm just learning how to work the the thing. I was lucky to be able to get the pictures of the Vincent SAT1 Pre Amp, to come out as good as they did

But this camera can do better than that. I just don't know how to work it, yet.

Alright, time for my humble setup as well as my father's.
This is my system. Consists of Magnepan MG-Ic speakers with new panels, Denon DVD-2200 for SACDs, Marantz CC-4300, REL Q150E, some chinese made tube amp, and a marantz EQ.

2 Generations of audiophiles, certainly cool!

BTW C Lee, do you ever notice any interference from the phone set on the rack?

I WANT THAT STU!! Haha, thats a product geared more towards RW than me. MW, the phone has always been there so I don't know if it is causing any interference. The setup is not too expensive since most of it was purchased used but it sure sounds good, atleast to me it does.
