I braved an Ottawa snow storm to get downtown and pick up my CA 640C today.
So far only listened to a few songs on it, but all I can say is WOW.
I listened to the same song in FLAC format streamed from my PC via a USB DAC and there's really no comparison. The FLAC sounds dull and one-dimesional compared to the CDP.
I think I get it now when people talk of "soundstage" and "depth" when listening to music.
The dealer said there's a 40 hour break-in period. Seems kinda weird that you have to break in a CD player, but whatever... it sounds good outta the box.
well david i have the same cd player now for about a year and am a big fan.have had no problems what so ever. i think cambridge is coming up in the world! a very high end dealer in my next of the woods(baltimore maryland)now carries cambridge. once again congrats and happy listening
Audioquest is a nice safe cable and I like Kimber Kable alot. Very good value cables. The Timbre is a killer interconnect for the money. For a few bucks more the Hero...is an award winner and for a reason.
