Anonymous | These speakers nominal 6 Ohm rating really pulled my Nak into new life! The power is amazing and the clearity, well its a Nak. Well, I bi-wired to see if that would reduce power to speakers or any other ill effects and I'm glad to say that it dosen't. |
G-Man | Bi-wiring from a single amp does nothing but support wire companies. Bi-amping has an effect. The same amount of power goes to a tweeter, a midrange, and a subwoofer whether you single wire or bi-wire. It is basic law of electronics. Only bi-amping changes the flow to a tweeter, a midrange, and a woofer. |
Anonymous | I wasn't expecting any improvements with simply bi-wiring my speakers but I was thinking about using my B speaker section as a second amp so it will be more like a bi-amp/bi-wire application. I'm just using my Nak as a 2 channel music only so it wouldn't be taking away from anything. Has anyone done this with good results? Sorry, just thinking out loud. |
Derek | The B termials (usually) go to exactly the same points in the amp as the A terminals. There is no second amp. G-Man's right. Bi-Amping CAN have a major effect, especially at clipping [of one of the amps]. The two required amps for Bi-amping also helps. It is possible that bi-wiring could help but it's actually the equivalent to simply using thicker wire. See Hope this helps. |
Anonymous | Thanks for the link Derek...very informative. Never saw that on Audioholics forum I bi-wired my Monitor Audio B2's 30 hours into my break-in phase. 30 hours to go. I never knew speakers had a break-in period like new cars but if I think about, the woofers are mechanical so it does make some sense. |
yamo | I thinking of getting the new sr7400 online, http://www.taxfreeelectronics.com/acb/showdetl.cfm?&DID=11&Product_ID=892&CATID=4 (USD$699) http://shop.store.yahoo.com/authorizedelectronics/marantzsr7400.html (USD$739) http://shop.store.yahoo.com/bestprice-store/marantzsr7400.html (USD$759) http://shop.store.yahoo.com/topsellers/marantzsr7400.html (USD$765) anyone know where can I get better deal than the above link? for speaker, where can I buy the Monitor B4, B2, BC and asw100 package online? 'sara internation. inc' do best for USD$1200+- |
Anonymous | Check out B&W's opinion on bi-wiring: They disagree with G-man, but say that the gains are subtle compared to the gains thru bi-amping. |
Paul T | I agree, I did my own little bi wiring experiment.. Using Paradigm Studio 20v3's and my NAD T752 I split the left channel coming out of my CD player so both speakers received the same info and ran one wire to one speaker and bi wired the other.. result, the bi-wired speaker did sound slightly different then the single wired speaker.. Highs were a tad cleaner and med/bass was a bit more defined and deeper.. what did surprise me was the sound or should I say the sound-stage seem wider with the bi-wired speaker,, So the difference was small but for me I figured I had the wire anyway plus if one speaker sounded a little better bi wired then two will sound even better.. So I'm in the bi-wired camp now.. I did read the article from B&W and I know Paradigm advises to bi-wire, since neither company is in the wire business or recommend a certain wire they have nothing to gain financially so I do believe there must be a reason for their recommendations and that is for their consumers to gain every possible advantage for their listening pleasure.. Just my 2 cents |

New member Username: EdisonPost Number: 12 Registered: 12-2003 | G-man, Thanks for all the informed posts hear - you've made many people happy here. I am surprised that a man of your knoledge on audio do not go for quality cables. It's good that you want to save other people's hard earned money, but I do hear a difference, even with under $100 cables. A Europian magazine said without cable upgrades, your quality components will sound like the feeding time at a zoo. Having a scientific mined, you might not find a reason for it, but I love my silver cables - they add liquid and transparent quality to my dull sounding system. After sharing with us so many good advices, perhaps we can convince you to test drive some cables. |
