I ain't selling mine. with the toobs and a very close listening position, the Lings are a dream. I can turn it up to 10w or so to fill the space up here. Put 'em on spikes and dampers kids, just a fun fun ride. The Ling's also provide great imaging at a short range. Like vocals are right in front. Fab, baby, fab.
Tim ran these very ones with a 30w tube kit, way more than I have now. I tried them with th Classe kit, but the room beat theshit oughta them. Everything with a purpose. Less hammer, more listening. Clapton unglugged is a whole new experience, like headphones 2/3 of a metre away. Fab, baby, fab!
Working like crazy. Yep, the house finally sold after 10 months, OUCH. But, we love the new house and I've been traveling a ton and busier than I've been in 20 years so not much time to do anything, including listen to music.
I'm hoping things will slow down again in December and I can catch up with you guys. Hope all is well and I'm enjoying the pictures of systems and catching up on some of the other guys. hang in there, Dave
The Ling Singles are a very nice little speaker for near field listening or small rooms. If you're looking for higher output you can use an electronic crossover (Behringer for example) and a bass unit. The only downside to the ported FR/WR125S based speakers is the excessive excursion during bass heavy passages at anything above a moderate volume. Limiting that with a electronic XO set to 80 or 100Hz will yield the listener very pleasurable sound. The Aria addresses this excursion issue by using a second driver in bipole configuration along with damped internal chambers for those that do not want to add a bass unit.
Your Ling's are sitting very happily on my puter desk, Tim, with the little tubes running them. When right, I will toe them back straight and run a little distortion into them, especially with the White Album.
Sweeeeeet! Fills the smallish listening space all the way to the kitchen table where the wine is poured.
The stage of the Lings is impressive, with center stage coming from dead head center.
We have many fans here, Tim. All visitors who sit in 'the chair'.
