Why pre & power amp should not be switched off?

I do not understand the reason behind it. Can someone explain the reason behind it please? Thanks in advance. - Bals.

You mean let them idle for a few hours after you have finished listening and then turn them off? That's a new one on me. I generally leave my gear on all the time. But I've never heard of letting a pre amp cool down. I can guess at a very "out there" reason but it is too extreme to be of any consequence. .
