I apologize for this simple question. Since this HK is a stereo receiver, I thought there would be two connections for speakers. However, when I look at the back, I see four. Can someone explain this to me? Thanks

From the owners manual:

"Connect the front left and right loudspeakers to the Speaker 1 speaker
terminals on the HK 3485. Remember to maintain the proper polarity by
always connecting the positive and negative terminals on each speaker
to the positive and negative terminals on the receiver. If you wish to
place a second pair of speakers in another room, or in the same room
for additional sound power, connect those speakers to the Speaker 2
Outputs, again remembering to maintain polarity. You may use the
Speaker 1/2 Selector on the front panel or remote to activate either
or both pairs of speakers simultaneously."

You can copy and paste the link below into your browser's address bar if you want the manual:

If you are running 4 speakers, you want to use 8ohm, easy to drive ones.
Elsen y'all might get just one boom.

Nuck it would depend on how the amp is built.

the amp could either see it as 4 ohms on each channle (a,b) or it could see it as 16 ohms

.

Original Sony receivers from the 1960-70's and a few Kenwoods from the same period. Otherwise, not so much!
