Speaker help

I read about a line of speakers recently (can't remember where or the name of the manufacturer) that were front ported, but the tweeter was suspended across the port opening like a suspension bridge. The woofer was down below.
The manufacturer claimed the unusual design gave much better performance than the typical port placement one usually sees.
Does this ring a bell with anyone? I'd like to have a look at their website.

I don't think this is what you were looking for Dennis, but maybe it'll help.

No, that wasn't it Chris, but thanks for trying. I do remember that the cabinet was a standard box shape, perhaps curved at the rear.
The tweeter was mounted on a rectangular plate and secured on each end of the port.
My memory stinks - it's hell gettin' old!

I finally found it! It was the Hadyn Grand by Vienna Acoustics. Impressive design - has anyone auditioned them?

That is one unusual design.

Upload

From Vienna Acoustics:

"This cast assembly incorporates a wedge-shape tweeter-mounting block that additionally serves to control the movement of air through the throat of the heavily flared port."

I wonder what they mean by "control", did they inherit a flared port design that was too large or misshapen that they had to "control"?

I don't know, but they use the same design in their Bach Grand. Here's a very positive review of the Haydn from HiFi+.
