does speakers clip? or just distort when driven to their limits, is it the amp that clips? I was just wondering cause I was listening to some music, (rock) and had it up pretty loud, I heard this faint clipping noise when I would get right up to the speaker, so I just wanted to know if it was my speakers or my amp that I was starting to push to hard? oh and my speakers are rated at 8 ohms if that helps.
The "clipping" sound you heard was the voice coil of the speaker banging against the magnet assembly. Turn it down. Speakers do not clip, only amplifiers. Speakers are overdriven. It sounds like that's what you're doing. Turn it down.
