I just bought a onkyo receiver Tx NR900 and polk speakers plk Rm7200, I hooked everything up according to the manual but I can hear a hum on my sub. Does anybody has this type of equipment? iS this equipment good or what ? did I get a lemon? any help will be great thank you.

Just a quick shot. It sounds like a grounding fault. Is the cable connecting the sub to the receiver pushed in all the way? If it isn't you'll get a hum. Be sure to check both ends of the cable (receiver and sub).

Grounding faults can be very common. On one occasion it was caused by the cable TV line (incorrect install by the cable company). It can also be caused by the electrical outlet itself. You can get a "cheater" plug which changes your outlet from a 3 prong grounded to a 2 prong ungrounded. This will work and may not result in any damage to your equipment, or it might. The technically correct way would be to get the outlet grounded properly or get a Ground LP Isolator (270-0054) from Radio Shack.
