Sorry for a very basic post. I just bought a DVD Player and TV (both Toshiba), and even plan to play all my music through the DVD player (it plays CDs, DVDA and MP3). Now, I need some kind of receiver and speakers for connecting the DVD player and I was wondering if somebody can suggest cost effective solutions. I am really broke and would be happy with good stereo sound (no 5.1 stuff for me right now - no money).
Firstly, it would be good to know your budget. I'm also trying to build a value proper system, so we are in the same boat. Actually it's quite surprising how much cheaper receivers/hi-fi equipment are today than several years ago. So state your budget and you might be surprised at what u can get.

A really good solution is the Onkyo Home Theater in a box package (Onkyo HT-S760). You can get a really good deal for ~$250.00 on a refurb. For a HTiB, it is rated as one one of the best at it's price point. And you would have the solution instantly for your DVD player.
