My system consists of a NAD CD player (521BEE), pre-amp (C160) and amp (C270). Sometime back, the pre-amp had stopped working due to a current spike. Had to replace the torroidal transformer (done by an authorised NAD dealer).
After this change, the system seems to have the strangest problem: It plays perfectly for about 4-5 mins, and then the audio cuts out. All the components seem to be on and working, but there's only a loud hiss from the speakers (not the infamous NAD hum).
I haven't been able to isolate each component to figure out the culprit as yet. But any thoughts/ideas on this will be very helpful indeed. thanks
Sounds like the repair to your preamp wasn't good enough. The fact that there's a hiss from the speakers indicates that the power amp is fine, so I suggest that some other component in the preamp has also gone.
