Finally saw Clapton live. Having Robert Cray open made it all the better in spite of him being limited to only six songs due to a fire alarm.

Clapton was everything I had hoped for. I guess I am enjoying going to a concert like this more since I picked up a guitar (ok, guitars)...

I wont' bore you with the details, yes he played some of his classics, Layla, Wonderful Tonight, CoKaine, etc.

I do need to get out the 411 on Derek Trucks. This dude has a style all to his own and if wasn't on stage with EC he would be the show. Look for him as he surely will have his own gig soon enough. I can see why he is part of the band, soloing with no effects on a vintage Gibson SG (as I read in the Dallas Morning News the next day) he proved that he can play with anyone any time. But he is no Eric Clapton. Just watching their fret board work and how smooth and easy they make it look, wow! Only disappointment was that I had hoped Cray would have joined Clapton for a bit but no.

10.000 maniacs on the laptop tonight.
I am snowed in, no return home this weekend.

Nuck, did you make it home at last? Well at least you were in good company (with Natalie Merchant)

The Shins "Wincing the Night Away".

I haven't heard this one yet, but their previous albums were both very good, I especially like their debut "Oh inverted world"

Anyone who likes the Shins may like Rogue Wave as well.

Spongebob Remix

http://www.myspace.com/southparkbeatz

Yeah, I know all the parts aren't aligned correctly and it's not the best SQ, but I think a bigger problem is there's not much BASS! I have all EQ above 62hz -12dB and the bass +12dB but I can't get any BASS out of these SONY SONY SONY headphones! They aren't very loud either... I have my computer's sound all the way up and running into my receiver which has more power on the headphone output. It's turned all the way up (+24) and has +10dB bass boost as well. I need MORE MORE MORE MORE MORE! BASSSS!

Fox Theater has excellent sound. I think you will be pleased. If I remember correctly, Allison Krauss uses either MeyerSound or Nexo line arrays, which produce some of the best LA's in the biz for sound reinforcement (smoother than JBL VerTEC IMHO). The sound is very open and transparent, just like listening to a large home hifi.

Good sized crowd, JC.
Nice sixed venue, if is a fixed theratre.
The venue here, a hockey arena with very good acoustics, seats 16,000 for Guns nRoses(we were 5), or a smaller venue within the show, a snaller venue for 4000, with a corparate name.
See a lot of this?

It works for home town bands and like that there.

Good to see some people are checking out new albums, like The Shins.

My favorite so far this year is Field Music, Tones of Town. Audiophile types might dig it because it's a great recording -- some have compared them to XTC and even Steely Dan. They have links to Futureheads and Maximo Park, also from Sunderland, England, but a much different sound. Their first album is nearly as great.

A few days ago Art posted a link to some fella who is back to doing reviews of music he bought back when he could afford it blah blah blah.

I picked up B.B. King "Live in Cook County Jail" on vinyl not CD and it is everything the reviewer said. This is B.B playing like he is enjoying himself and for a live performance, the music really comes through clean. Worth a listen to.

Ok, this should have gone onto the Dard Interconnect thread but I figure a bigger audience here.

I am still claiming to be testing out the interconnects so I am back up in the media room spinning "HiFi/Stereo Review Stereo Demonstration Record". It is 2 sides of classical music written by men in cool wigs. Nice compilation of their stuff and other noises to have your system (vinyl) show itself off to you. Picked it up from Music Direct online, cheap.

Her first three albums.
"Blue" obviously is her best album imo, but I like the autumn mood of her 1st record as well, the song "Marcie" is beautiful.

Three more artists playing at the Apollo were also simply wonderful:

Queen Latifah - The Dana Owens album. Excellent blues/jazz - What a great voice.

Eliane Elias - Around a City, her crooning voice and excellent piano skills really shine on this highly recommended album. Better than her previous album imo.

And Monty Alexander's Stir It Up. This Bob Marley tribute album with its reggae/jazz mix is a great instrumental. It's also a hybrid stereo SACD.

Along with Roberta Gambarini's Easy To Love, we will be attending the Apollo to hear all these artists again this weekend. It great great to receive an order and each title is well worth the wait.

I remember a rap concert at church (of all places) and the bass, I will admit, was way too much for me. I may have been a little weird feeling already, but that bass was LOUD! It was hitting me in the chest really, really hard. I couldn't handle it, and it was causing chest pain. When I left, my chest felt numb and I was all dizzy from the bass level. I will admit I was about 10ft from the 8 subwoofers on the left side of the sanctuary (holds maybe a few thousand?) AND was in the corner, so I guess that may be why it was SO! LOUD! I don't know why they had it turned up so much either..I guess because it was rap. The DJ then played a really low note and it shook me...which I loved...but it wasn't so thumpy like the higher bass, and I preferred the shake over the thump by a long shot. In case you're wondering, I go to a large church. In fact...that was only the sanctuary for high schoolers only (except during "one-nights" as they call them this year, where 6-12 goes there instead of 9-12).

What I'm listening to is badly recorded, but I'll tell you what it is anyway.

I now have 1704 titles on CD. Many of those titles are multi disc. I have enough to play a different CD every day for several years. I probably have 150-200 more than in the photo on Agon. Those were also the demo speakers mine came in quite a while after and have a much better fit and finish. Also the sub pictured is the Dynamo which has been replaced with the REL R205. Thanks for lookin' and commenting Arnold.

There will be changes added soon as my cables are changing as well as adding a Quantum Symphony.
