I cannot get my surround to work on my receiver

Anonymous
I just bought a HT650 Onkyo Receiver/system

I have everything hooked up as the diagram shows.

The A and B speakers are both on and the
surround button says "B speakers on" when I hit the button.

Yet the only sound I get is from the subwoofer and the 2 front speakers.

None from the center speaker and none from the surround.

BTW i have no S cable hook ups.All regular jacks.

I double checked the surround speaker connections and they are plugged in fine.

Please help!

try using an optical cable or a composite cable for digital sound.

Hi Anonymous- I agree with Maximo,if You are using A DVD player, You need the optical cable. If you are using a cable box, it will have to be one that receives the DTV signals. You then hook a cable from the Digital Audio Out jack to the Coax digital in "TV In" Jack. Be careful, the Dolby Digital 5 signal is at a fixed level, so You have to experiment with the box volume control for the analog. So everything will be a equal levels when You channel surf.. This Dolby Digital signal is an option the cable company buys. So call them and see if they have it.. Also I have a BK-307 receiver, they do not have a muting circuit for when You change channels, so You hear the the processer click in and out when You change channels, sometimes it is aloud burp, burp sound. BK tells Me they are working on this. Keep Me and Maximo on Your results..In the famous words of Louis Nye on the old Steve Allen show.. HihoSteverno...
