What I KNOW I don't like is smaller speakers like mirage, and I don't have room and budget for towers. The Def Techs really sounded nice to me. Anything else I should be considering? This will be for a home theater setup. Probably 90% movies/TV/xbox; 10% music. The room is pretty big, a carpeted L shaped room about 18x25, though the main TV watching area is smaller. My receiver is a Yamaha RX-V757. |

If it's 90% movies, I'd have thought the M&K K-series would be your bag, provided they're not too expensive. Excellent cohesion, uniform soundfield and very dynamic. But since you say you don't like small satellites, consider Acoustic Energy's EVO3 system. Great sound from unassuming speakers. Regards, Frank. |

Neverhteless, here is a great system that will match up well with your Yamaha receiver and meets your size criteria: http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=NHTKC2B Now, I also like the suggestion of the Ascend Acoustics. Their CBM-170s are an excellent speaker and worth every penny. A set of CBM-170s across the front with a pair of HTM 200s for the rear, along with a Hsu Research STF-1 or Outlaw Audio LFM-2 would make for a superb system. Here are their respective websites as all sell factory direct and each comes with a 30 day in home trial, so you can try them at home to see if they work for you: http://www.ascendacoustics.com/ http://www.hsuresearch.com/ http://www.outlawaudio.com/ Worth exploring. |
