If the designer intended the crossover to be used bi-wired there is a very real possiblity that the frequency response will be closer to the design target than it would be otherwise. I can measure distinct response changes when the circuits are kept separate rather than sharing input and common. Now, I'm not addressing whether it's going to "sound better" or not, only the design side. There are a number of "low cost" speakers out there that have an extra set of posts for looks. The respectable companies will actually have the crossover circuits separated. |
