OK, That yamaha I was looking at is gone (Ebay).

Which of these two should I get?

Harman Kardon AVR-245
or
Onkyo TXSR604

They seem very similar, I'm looking for HDMI and Zone 2.

Or am I missing another better receiver for the same price? Ciruit City has the Onkyo at 395 with tax until midnight tonight (tomorrow's ad says $499!)

Thanks Guys.

Kurt, if they both do what you want, pick the one which is heaviest and has the higher power consumption.

ie: if the unit says 7x100w, but consumes only 450w, it is either a perpetual motion machine(get 2) or the cure for the worlds power issues.

H/K

Allso look for the omne which consumes the most power like Nuke said

The Onkyo Tajes 7 Amps
Considering 0.8amps=100watts (so i have heard)
Looks lik the onkyo might be a little more powerful, its all in what you like allso

Well, I bought the Onkyo, the good deal made me jump and I like the back layout - I think the 2nd and 3rd zones are better in the Onkyo too. I hope it sounds good with my Mirage Omnisats (haven't heard them yet).

I'm putting it inside a cabinet, any suggestions on how big a fan I should build into this piece of furniture - diameter, CFM?

Also, a simple IR bridge that I can take a long run wire and attach it to the back of the receiver?

Thanks for the help again -

what's Nuck** One** Like** Takes** mean???? ha

You made the right choice, even though the HK is heavier is doesn't process audio via HDMI. You'd have to use an optical or digital coax connection.
