How important is it to have my video components going through my receiver first, then to my television? Pros vs. Cons?

only real advantage is if your TV has limited video inputs.

I second what anon has said. If you have enough inputs on your TV, then it is better to not use the receiver for video at all. The more times the video has to go through an electronic device the greater the chances for picture degredation.
