Again today I heard the 802D's.
This time they were pushed with a little 100w Bryston with built in DAC's.
The player was a Arcam 73, digital out.
The little Bryston worked well with the 802's.

These must be the best (mass made) speakers in the world.

I have heard them now with Bryston sst6's in a theatre, this little one, and another little Linn kit.

Again, for 16k cnd, these are the best speakers in the world.

Kikmybutt.

Damm, just short by an equally astronomical number.

You'll get there, dont worry. It might take a couple decades, but thats ok. Alternatively you could take out a loan and find out how understanding your wife really is.

well the thing about the 802Ds is that they REALLY, REALLY need REALLY, REALLY expensive amplification to sound their best.

Ed, if that thing could drive into a low or widely variable load like the 802D, you would not have acknowleged the amps shortcomings in earlier posts.

That link is either
A; Horse Hooey
B; Sent by a useless listener
C; Horse Hooey

The phase shift of the 802d is brutal.90 deg is not uncommon, and lacking the grunt to make them run(bear in mind the 500w ceiling here)would be(and I have heard it) just a total disservice to gear that would be best used elsewhere.

Nuck I think you are kidding yourself. It's the Bryston not the 802's
