Hi, I own an '06 Ranger (extended cab) and am wondering which 12" sub would be most suitable to install. Have a Pioneer P6800MP head unit hooked up to factory speakers. My question is whether I should use my Kenwood Amp KAC-S726 which is (100Wx2 RMS @4ohm, 150Wx2 RMS @ 2ohm, BRIDGED 300Wx1 RMS @ 4 ohm) WITH my Rockford Punch Stage 1 (this years model) it is rated 300W peak/ 150W RMS (4 ohm)
OR
My Rockford POWER 200 a1 amplifier (100Wx1 RMS @4 ohm, 200x1 RMS @ 2 ohm) with a Rockford Punch FRP 1212 (older DVC sub) which is 800W peak/ 400W RMS @ 4ohm
I only want to install one sub in the back of my truck, any advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Why does the rockford amp rated at such low wattage?? This amp was used to power two DVC's in the past, wouldnt it of been underpowering them, everyone says that isnt good for subs??
Anyways was wondering what would sound better for a truck. Thanks.
I think opening up the cab of your truck to be roughly 12' x 15' w/8' ceiling. Then using some B&W speakers with an svs sub would probably give you the best sound.
I think we need a flashing neon light to tell the car audio people that every time someone mentions audio, it is
a) NOT ABOUT A CAR SYSTEM!!! b) bass should not sound loose and boomy, and they STILL somehow think it is tight c) bass should not overpower the rest of the frequencies d) rap is NOT music e) a good car sub STARTS around 300 to 400 for`mass market f) yes, HSU research makes car subs, no it isnt a "no name company" g) McIntosch??? the computer?? one of my favs...lol h) when you turn your systems up so everyone when a five mile radius can feel the bass... it isn't impressive...its annoying. i) home subs are NOT meant to be used in a car, likewise the REVERSE is also true
I think the majority of those who listen to Rap do it because of the subwoofer effects.
And one of the things that annoys me the most about the 'boomers' is that they ALWAYS have their windows down-indicating lack of respect or intelligence. Yes, there is a slight bass boost because of the windows being open, but it's hardly noticeable. 'h)' in your list is by far my favorite.
It's a shame idiots like D Bear start threads here and clutter this forum.
I think you need to add another one to your list Gavin. The fact that the bass rattles EVERYTHING in the car. Its awefully annoying to not only hear the boomy crap, but to hear the boom and then the rest of the car rattle because of the bass. IF they are that interested in having all that bass why not take the proper steps to ensure the "rattling" of the rest of the car doesn't happen.
But hey its loud and thats all that matters right?
When some dude has to sell his focus/escort because he lost his job,and removes the stereo, I wonder how the thing would feel/sound running down the road?
A bit 'loose' I would think. And send it to the junk heap.
