Help! Surround Sound signal to speakers drops out randomly

Kenwood 615 worked fine for two years. I upgraded three of the speaker cables to 18 guage so I could have extra length. Meanwhile, I kept three other speakers connected with the cables that came with the system.
Six months later, the volume on my system starts to drop out. I'll be watching a movie and the dialogue will drop out but I will still hear the background ambient noises behind the dialogue. Here's the thing: if I go to the back of the system and tug on the 18 guage cables the volume/signal will be picked up again just like normal, but then a few minutes later it will drop out again. Whenever, I tug on the cables I hear a clicking sound (the same sound I hear when the dialogue drops out/down). Does anyone know what's going on and have any suggestions on how to fix this?

Can't you try it with a different speaker wire?

Repair bad wire/loose binding post from new wire install.
Unplug all cables from Kenwood, let sit overnight.Open cover, locate loose nuts on posts and tighten.
Vaccumn unit at the same time.
