Bronze Member Username: PaogrAthensGreece Post Number: 22 Registered: Dec-05 | Ok i'm new to home audio and i want to buy a very cheap amp. Which of these is the best? 1) PIONEER VSXD-415 --->179$ 2) Yamaha RXV-450 --->209$ 3) SONY STR-DE 598/s --->199$ I have 2x150wrms and 2x80wrms speakers. I'm gonna buy a center speaker, too. Thanks. |

As for center speaker, check out Heco's D'Appolito Signature center speaker on Ebay, only $80 (used). I have that speaker for 4 years now and it is an above average speaker. |

The receivers you mentioned are just bottom of the barrel...they weigh like 20lbs which is nothing (very weak amps) and probably push 20 watts RMS when your listening to 5-channles like a DVD. |
New member Username: Music4lifeKowloonHong Kong Post Number: 8 Registered: May-06 | No way! I'd rather get the Yamaha brand new for $209 than Harman Kardon's (refurbished) $188 + $27 shipping. Since the guy has old speakers, I suggest to match it up with cheap (used) but high quality center speaker. If speaker upgrade is necessary in the future, at least his Amp will still be pretty new. |

Bronze Member Username: PaogrAthensGreece Post Number: 23 Registered: Dec-05 | I know sony doesn't make good amps in car audio. But in home audio i think they make some good stuff. What do you think? Isn't the SONY STR-DE 598/s a good amp for the money? I want an amp with good power and some basic features, not too many things. #My speakers are veeery old, about 20 years (or more). |
