I have small (13X10x8 wdh) room.Looking for a nice monitors under 1k for music only ( classical, jazz, little rock and roll as well :-)) The problem is i can only keep them 7-9 in.away from long wall, so rear ported are not my choice. I need an advice on front ported or sealed speakers .I am not a bass head so low end is not a problem. I can always add ML Dynamo (my favorit). |

Their port is very very small and you get a slight bass loading effect as well which improves their in room response over the anechoic rating of 63 or so. Several folks at audiogon have traded in expensive stuff and been happy with these. They are almost uniformly jazz types. My only other comment is that a company called Highland Audio out of France makes GREAT monitors under your budget and would be ideal for two channel listening with a sub. There are no US distributors but you can get them from Canada. These were the low cost WOW speakers for me at CES. Other than that you could try used at audiogon any number of brands to stay in budget you get some decent quality. |
