Silver Member Username: KanoBC Canada Post Number: 941 Registered: Oct-04 | Kruder & Dorfmeister - The K&D Sessions Disc 2 tracks 2-4 are excellent for bass response and seperation. |
Silver Member Username: Timn8terSeattle, WA USA Post Number: 911 Registered: Dec-03 | William Orbit - Water From A Vine Leaf |
Gold Member Username: GavincummNew York USA Post Number: 1089 Registered: Feb-05 | Diana Krall- Peel Me a Grape Madonna- Die Another Day (amazing bass transients) Enigma- Turn Around Sade- Smooth Operator The Judds- Grandpa (love this for seperation) Cher- just cher in general, her voice is difficult for speakers to handle properly Andrea Bocelli- the Sogno album Josh Groban- Closer CD, there is some clipping in the 5th track, noticible on good equipment. |
Gold Member Username: GavincummNew York USA Post Number: 1090 Registered: Feb-05 | I never go anywhere without that Madonna track though, the bass will blow you away if you have never heard it. It starts out full bore, then stops dead, then comes back full bore again, no rolling off here! Its all synth bass, and really deep and loud. It was AMAZING to see (and hear) this song live during her RE-INvention tour. Nobody Knows Me is also a song that I use off the same album when demoing equipment, but its not one I rely on. Its just a fun track to listen to. |
Silver Member Username: Timn8terSeattle, WA USA Post Number: 912 Registered: Dec-03 | For acoustic rather than electric - John Pizzarelli - Tequila (percussion solo demonstrates imaging and separation) Jazz At The Pawnshop - High Life (lead sax moves around the stage, audience sounds) Monty Alexander - Battle Hymn of the Republic (full use of Yamaha Grand keyboard, piano cabinet resonance in the opener, huge dynamics from all instruments) |
Silver Member Username: RsxmanPost Number: 180 Registered: Jul-05 | wow thanks for all the great songs to try! ill "borrow" them later today and give it a shot |
Gold Member Username: Edster922Abubala, Ababala The Occupation Post Number: 3954 Registered: Mar-05 | If you have a chance to get Santana's "Supernatural" CD that's great demo material because it features so many different instruments playing at the same time, and at many different tempos within the same song---will especially reveal your system's separation and detail. |
Gold Member Username: NuckPost Number: 2430 Registered: Dec-04 | Why not try what you normally listen to, unless you are changing tastes with the speakers? Just a thought.... |
Gold Member Username: Jan_b_vigneDallas, TX Post Number: 8412 Registered: May-04 | You could try the Emma Demo CD for soem suggestions. https://www.ecoustics.com/electronics/products/reviews/186180.html There have been some slight changes to the basic disc but most of the selections remain. |
Silver Member Username: RsxmanPost Number: 181 Registered: Jul-05 | ive been going through various r&b songs and some club hip hop and it all sounds great but i wanted to see how other more "musical" songs sound with my new radiient speakers. |

Gold Member Username: NuckPost Number: 2439 Registered: Dec-04 | I presume all these suggestions are stuff that are regularly found in each persons player? Otherwise, what's the point? If it sounds great with techno, but I don't listen to techno, what's the point? If I burn cd's , I should listen with a burned cd rather than the newest remastered disc. I am just suggesting realistic testing, is all. |
Silver Member Username: RsxmanPost Number: 188 Registered: Jul-05 | and your opinion is always welcome nuck, you make good points. I have been trying other types of music for some time now, mostly jazz and classical because most new age music just doesn't seem to have much musicality in speakers for the most part. Atleast from what ive found. |
Gold Member Username: NuckPost Number: 2440 Registered: Dec-04 | Myself, Eric, I have branched all the way out to include classic blues and Elvis. Not a big reach, but a bit. The only jazz i've heard was just recently at a small club and was a bit of fusion(i think) as well. The band stretched out to Stevie Wonder. That type of selection would be a fair test at various listening positions and distances. I cannot comment on classical, beyond cartoon music. |
Silver Member Username: Timn8terSeattle, WA USA Post Number: 913 Registered: Dec-03 | IMHO, always stretch your musical boundaries, however, if you're going to use a piece of music as a reference you should be intimately familiar with it. Looney Tunes was an excellent classical music training ground for many of us. |
Gold Member Username: NuckPost Number: 2441 Registered: Dec-04 | For an experience in varied music on a single commercial disc, from a single artist or band, I might suggest Paul Simon, (misdeamonors or something, I dont have it here). All the way from S&G, bongo pop, 50 ways(a good mid tester) township jive and more. I find the common thread of his voice to be simple to translate between systems. As Tim said, intimately familiar. This disc might, might be helpful, providing a commonality with quiet passages good mids and a bit off bass near the end. |
Silver Member Username: RsxmanPost Number: 189 Registered: Jul-05 | haha looney tunes classic blues sounds interesting, i didnt even consider that. Ill give that area a try aswell. |
Silver Member Username: RsxmanPost Number: 190 Registered: Jul-05 | Ive heard Paul Simon before and I really enjoyed him. Ill give that a try again aswell, though its been a while since I last heard it. |
Gold Member Username: NuckPost Number: 2442 Registered: Dec-04 | Classic blues can be a bit trying at first(still can be), if you want to go straight to the heart of it, Robert Johnson. Or Eric Clapton, Me and Mr. Johnson. |
Gold Member Username: GavincummNew York USA Post Number: 1091 Registered: Feb-05 | I myself have all of madonnas CD's, and am going to see her again this summer (go me!!) IMHO, the production on "sorry" on the "confessions on a dancefloor" CD is much better than "hung up" While I love that CD, and think its one of madonnas best, "sorry" is mastered better. for acoustic music, check out some music by Joemy Wilson |
Silver Member Username: RsxmanPost Number: 192 Registered: Jul-05 | im making my long list here of songs to get, this is great, its going to be a rather interesting cd and testing once i get it under way. Can't wait to see how the radiient hyperions do with this. |
Gold Member Username: Edster922Abubala, Ababala The Occupation Post Number: 3956 Registered: Mar-05 | Just got Lucinda Williams' "Car Wheels On a Gravel Road"---track 6, "Lake Charles" would be a nice test song. |

Gold Member Username: GavincummNew York USA Post Number: 1093 Registered: Feb-05 | LMAO... nope...not yet! Its getting to be expensive too. A good ticket at a madonna concert is roughly $300US through ticketmaster. I got lucky last time at the RE-INvention tour. For $160 I had a ticket that was 5 rows off the side of the stage. I bought 2. One each for myself and the gf :-) |
Silver Member Username: Usa2k4Post Number: 139 Registered: Dec-04 | Blue Man Group's Audio on DVD-A is an excellent disc. |
Silver Member Username: RsxmanPost Number: 199 Registered: Jul-05 | hey guys i made a mix with almost every single one of the songs listed in the thread and tried them out on my radiient speakers! those were some great selections and the hyperions sounded so amazing. The highs were very accurate and the acoustics were clear and authoritative. Bass was easliy controlled. Mids and highs sounded so clean and crisp. I love these speakers!! |
Bronze Member Username: Dfantom32Irvine, CA USA Post Number: 95 Registered: Feb-06 | Have you tried Africa by Toto? That one has a good bass and some highs also. Acoustic music also you might consider to put on your list too. |
Silver Member Username: RsxmanPost Number: 202 Registered: Jul-05 | ill check that one out too so far everything ive thrown at these radiient hyperions is easily handled. |

Silver Member Username: DakulisSpokane, Washington United States Post Number: 946 Registered: May-05 | Nora Jones - first album Can't believe nobody mentioned it. Several tracks, just piano, bass and guitar with her voice. I was going to say Tiny Tim, "Tiptoe through the Tulips" to offset Tim's Looney Tunes. LOL |
Silver Member Username: Timn8terSeattle, WA USA Post Number: 917 Registered: Dec-03 | Yeah, let's see if we can faithfully reproduce a ukulele. Not as easy as you might think! |
Gold Member Username: NuckPost Number: 2524 Registered: Dec-04 | A Mondoline might be a little more apprropriate. Though still not simple to recreate. |
Gold Member Username: NuckPost Number: 2525 Registered: Dec-04 | Mandoline Rain, Bruce Hornsby has wrecked 2 sets of speakers. Very difficult. |
Silver Member Username: TwebbzOakland Park, Florida USA Post Number: 404 Registered: Apr-04 | Sarah McLachlan "Into the Fire". Very deep clean bass and her voice is difficult to reproduce. |

Gold Member Username: NuckPost Number: 2536 Registered: Dec-04 | Rick, I played that track from Sarah with the Ling's on the Rotel, and had to track it twice to get it right. Difficult piece it is, but very rewarding(added just a bit of sub). |

Gold Member Username: NuckPost Number: 2730 Registered: Dec-04 | Steve Earle(picked up on Tim's bit). Copperhead road will give the speakers a workout.Mid's and Bass.(can you hear the top of the little eukele there?) No? Need better tweeters. I ran the metal tweeters for that song, very good! |
Gold Member Username: NuckPost Number: 2731 Registered: Dec-04 | Se now that's where a really good ss amp will overcome a tube amp. Solid highs and lows, the mids will fill in naturally, from the recording or the preamp. That song sounds great played loud, because it plays to most peoples equipment. I can't imagine a lot of toobies playing that one loud. That song, however is one of about a zillion... |
Bronze Member Username: Daniel_canadaCanada Post Number: 51 Registered: May-06 | K.D Lang's Constant Craving. It's off the Ingenue CD. That tune will work your tweeters. It also shows the weaknes of my CD player. Her voice is smooth is you have the gear. |
Bronze Member Username: Daniel_canadaCanada Post Number: 52 Registered: May-06 | oh-oh-oh One more!!! "Some Where Down the Cray River" by Robbie Roberston. Good all around tune, bass, mids, and other goodies. |
