A while ago I had most of my CD collection stolen (approx 200CDs so pretty upsetting, especially given that my insurance policy didnt cover me- long and frustrating story).
What joy they didnt find my harddrive so have all of my music on mp3. Unfortunately it is only ripped to 160kbps so my question is this:
is it possible to 'unpack' the compressed files to a lossless format???
surely there must be some software out there somewhere???
The bit rate can be increased, but there is no information regained. You will still be playing low-resolution recordings. Consider an analogy with digital photographs. If the original is low-res, a hi-res photo of it will still be low-res.
Sorry to hear about the CDs. Unfortunately it looks like there is nothing you can do.
