Monday, April 10, 2006 - 03:15 GMT I've got a set of PD-9 Special Edition, someone's asking me the wattage on them, does anyone know what it might be? I looked all over the cabinets and have not found anything that might tell me. I have pictures of them, but not tonight, anyone with some info, would be nice to know.

Tuesday, April 11, 2006 - 15:59 GMT Hehe, speakers do have watts, when you feed them some from the amp. Otherwise it can't do work. The specification says "POWER HANDLING" ability, not power generating ability.

Tuesday, April 11, 2006 - 17:48 GMT Just to further clarify, only speakers with a voice coil moving within a magnetic gap have any "watts" whatsoever. So not all speakers have watts. Not that it matters to the discussion.

Tuesday, April 11, 2006 - 18:46 GMT Hehe, that is pretty low for a plasma tweeter, Tim.

Tuesday, April 11, 2006 - 22:07 GMT Tim, Sounds like the tweeter have been broken in admirably. Now I'm hungry (steak and merlot, maybe). Jan, Sorry, I wasn't trying to be picky, just trying to clarify so those with less technical background won't misunderstand. Now it's time to go home and listen to some music.

Tuesday, April 11, 2006 - 23:57 GMT This is a question salespeople get all the time. By the time you explain the energy developed in the voice coil and what happens to it when it leaves the voice coil and how that affects the amplifier, it is much easier to say, "speakers don't have watts".
