I am looking for a surround sound system that can drive my B&W DM610i (4 ohm) speakers. I am tempted by the NAD T762, but I hear so many complaints about problems. I have seen a used ROTEL RB-956AX in good shape for about $300, and I was wondering if that combined with a $300 HT receiver with pre-outs would sound as good if not better than the NAD T762. What do the gurus say?
I'm far from being a guru, more like a curious guy like you, but I know NAD and Rotel well, and FOR MY TASTE, in similar prices and features, Rotel as always win, due to detailed, warmer, bigger sound, apart from the fact that if you're using highly current demanding speakers (as it looks like), the NAD will enter clipping mode where the Rotel will continue (Ex.: ProAc Response)
Apart from the fact that I've never seen Rotel playing badly with B&W, KEF, ProAc and others (of course I'm not including speakers like Avalon, Wilson Watt Puppy, JM Lab Grand Utopia or MBL)
