I have bought a panasonic amp with 5*100 output and has a sub output, however when hooking upto my powered 175W sub through a single gold plated RCA lead I do not have any luck, if i run this from the DVD player (with decoder) front left and front right it picks up the bass fine. Any ideas why its not picking up from the sub output but will from the FL and FR channels from both my sub and DVD. Is it because the sub is 175W ?(I did not think so as was led to believe this powered itself). Thanks
You probably have your main speakers set to "large". This is telling your main speakers to recreate all frequencies as though you don't have a sub. Set the mains to "small" and it'll route whatever your x-over is set to and under to the sub.

you may also have your sub setting on your receiver set to off, in which case no signal is being sent to the sub regardless of the main speaker setting.
