i just got a new Pioneer player and it has options for distance setup and volume for each speaker. is it better to use the player's setup options or just my receivers or both?
If you are using the decoders in the receiver (that is the DVD is connected via a coaxial or fibre optic - toslink - cable) then only the distance settings in the receiver apply. If the player is connected via analogue connections (up to 5.1) and you listen with the receiver set to external inputs or such, then you need to set the speaker distances in the player's set up.
