Anonymous | i need some help with my ipod mini too... it turns on and everything but whenever I import the songs from my cds I go to drag them to my ipod folder but everything is gray and there is a little picture of a lock next to the bottom where it shows the amount of space i have left on the ipod |
bent Unregistered guest | To answer your question anonymous .. .. you need to go into the ipod options within itunes and click on the button that says manually update your ipod. . . . you probably have it set for itunes to automatically update your play list. By clicking on manually update you can trash and change your playlist as much as you want |
blink-babe- Unregistered guest | For the person at the top who's iPod won't turn on, Press and hold the middle button and the menu button for 10 seconds and then it should turn on (the apple sign will come up after 10 seconds then the main menu will come up). |
blink-babe- Unregistered guest | Hi, my computer recently broke and wouldn't turn on...this was after a thunder storm. The man fixing our computer said it will take hours to save all my songs on iTunes and he charges £45 per hour he spends working on it, so my dad told him just to save the file My Documents. I am worried that all my songs on my iPod will get lost when we get the computer back because some of the songs were sent to me, and some I have to say were illegally downloaded so they dont have any files to support them. When I plug my iPod into the computer I was wondering if all the songs on my iPod will go onto the computer or will I have to find a way to get them onto the computer again. I am really annoyed and worried because some of the illegally downloaded songs are quite important to me. Please help by telling me if they will go back on to the computer or if they will all be lost!!! |

Anonymous | Hi, is there anyone out there who could help me? my problem is, that I had some trouble unplugging it from the computer, so I decided to do a restore. However, when I tried to the apple logo then appeared on the ipod and turned off. When I tried to turn it on, the apple logo came up, followed by a picture of a folder with an exclamation point. does anyone know what i should do?? thanks people |
Bent Unregistered guest | Are you connecting the ipod via firewire or usb ... . I had the same problem with an ipod via firewire and i found out that my firewire busses had fried the ipod. Check your buses and does the ipod show up on your desktop? if not it could be fried if you get it up on desktop try wiping it and reinstalling the firmware and reseting the ipod by holding Menu and the Center button on your scrollwheel till it resets. and remember Google is your friend - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61003 |

Bent Unregistered guest | Mallory Angel "aka Blondy" Plug in your Ipod via Firewire or Usb to your computer Your Ipod should then pop up in Itunes as well as your Desktop Open Preferences in Itunes, in preferences you will have the options General,Ipod,Podcasts,Audio, IMporting and so forth Click on Ipod then the window will open for ipod then click the button for Manually manage songs and playlists then hit OK Now go into your library window inside itunes where you have all the albums listing or songs depending on your library, then just drag and drop the music you want to the little ipod icon in your itunes Source window. and remember the thing called Google . .. http://www.ipodlounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/ask-ipodlounge-5-12-05/ |

I haven't hit it since I bought it (january this year) and I'm pretty sure the problem appeared after last update. Can anybody help me? Cheers. |

Unregistered guest | Hey guys. I'm new to this. I'm really frustrated with my ipod because it won't show up in itunes, and the ipod updater won't recognize my ipod either.. so i can't update the software. we recently got a new hardrive in my computer so there would be more space. I started having this problem AFTER we got the new hardrive. Could there possibly be a relation?? I've seriously tried everything, i went to apple.com and did all the troubleshooting, including reinstalling itunes, and the ipod software. Also, my IpodService is in drive E, not drive C. I don't know why, but could there be a reason for that too? i've also formatted my ipod and erased everything on it, restoring it to the factory version. and still nothing. im so confused!! -teresa an email or a reply would be very helpful and greatly appreciated! |

Anonymous | Help! I installed a version of iPod linux for my ipod mini (yes it was designed to work with the mini) but I unknowingly made a mistake (I forgot to specify which type of OS to use.) Now when I try to boot my iPod lots of text comes up after which the screen gets some fuzzy dots on it and the iPod mini becomes unresponsive. I have tried resetting (menu+center) but that just makes the same thing happen all over again (text, then crashes.) To make matters worse, my Windows PC will no longer recognize my ipod after installing iPodlinux; thus I cannot restore it to factory defaults. Is there any hope for my iPod Mini??? |

debbie5864 Unregistered guest | Hello, My partner owns a mini ipod. only had it since march! I have a ibook G4 which is where his itunes is. One day the battery ran down on his ipod mini so he plugged it into the mains and an apple icon flashed up and then a folder icon which an exclamation mark! We let it charge and then plugged it into my ibook through the firewire port. the screen on ipod mini changed to do not disconnect as it would usually do. However it never appeared on the desktop or in itunes? had to physically just pull the wire out to disconnect it! I have tried to reset it but to no avail and i cant restore it as it doesn't appear on my desktop to do so! It is still under warranty so i thought i'd send it for service under that but someone told me that if they think iv'e done it its going to cost me around £150! i can get a new one for that! any ideas or thoughts on this??? |

Brandi Unregistered guest | Hi I just got this thing litterally hours ago, and it's working fine .I was just wondering how to erase songs from it. I have scowered the directions and they say nothing about deleting songs. Can anyone help me with my Ipod mini? |
Gold Member Username: Project6Post Number: 3341 Registered: Dec-03 | Go to iTunes. From here you should see a list of all the songs that you have. Uncheck the songs you want removed for your iPod. Dock your iPod, when the iPod syncs with your computer the songs you unchecked will be removed from your iPod. Check your manual again. Read more about iTunes and iPod by looking at the CD included with your iPod. Use the help and search function. Do you really expect not to find instructions on a player which whole purpose is to add and remove songs for listening? |
Brandi Unregistered guest | Thank you! I actually figured it out by myself when nobody wrote back yesterday, but I appreciate the help. |

New member Username: WumingsdenNottingham, East midlands England Post Number: 1 Registered: Aug-05 | To jbhoops: This message comes up because you have completely restored (in other words deleted) your iPod. Simply plug up back up via USB or FireWire and it will automatically detect itself and then add the music you want. |
New member Username: WumingsdenNottingham, East midlands England Post Number: 2 Registered: Aug-05 | To Mallory Angel: You asked this - How do I get the songs on iTunes to my iPod Mini?? I am not a computer person, so say it in blonde-proof words. Thanksss. Plug in the USB and Itunes should automatically load. If not then you load it manually. Under podcast you should see the name of your iPod. In the library part put all of the songs that you would like and then one - by - one click and drag to the iPod icon. |
New member Username: WumingsdenNottingham, East midlands England Post Number: 3 Registered: Aug-05 | To anybody that would like to UPLOAD their songs FROM their iPod to their PC: To do this go on a search engine and type in iPod music liberator or EphPod Both of these programmes allow you to upload music from iPod to pc |

Gold Member Username: Project6Post Number: 3572 Registered: Dec-03 | angel777 open iTunes. Connect your iPod. On the left side of your iTunes window, check if you can see if the iPod is connected. It should show under "music Store" and it will show the name of your iPod (if you gave it one). Click on it. See if there are songs on the iPod by using the iTunes window. Then get back here. |

Its the weirdest thing on my computer b/c when I hook up my ipod to the computer and open itunes, the first songs that I tried to upload are shown on the ipod when I click on my ipod on the source list, but the only thing is that the songs are grey and can't be clicked on.. I also tried to uninstall itunes and everything..then I re installed it..same problem..I'm stumped.. |
Gold Member Username: Project6Post Number: 3579 Registered: Dec-03 | that is because your songs came from a different computer. The iPod will not let it transfer to another computer, that is why it is greyed out. iPod will not let you do file sharing. |
