Bought a pioneer elite receiver with HDMI compadablity. My television has HD/DVI connection, Dvd player is standard and Cable receiver is HD/DVR compadible. What do you think my best method of hook up is. Can the HDMI interface to work with the DVI.
Yes. Buy an HDMI to DVI adapter for your receiver to HDTV connection. But I don't know if there is much benefit in the HDMI connect since you are using a dvd player without HDMI. I would buy a Panasonic S77 dvd player that has HDMI and also plays dvd-audio. It lists at $250 and can often be found at less than $200. It is an excellent dvd player and can be connected directly to your PE 72TX -- thus avoiding any degradations from non-digital connections and extra DAC conversions from the dvd players digital output. Just get an HDMI to DVI adapter for your HDTV and it will get all the benefits of HDMI/DVI video signals, while your receiver will get the benefit of getting a direct digital connection via the HDMI from the dvd player.
