I have ordered the AVR 435 receiver and have a quick question. I know that I want to connect the receiver to the monitor for video via component cables, but when I connect my dvd player to the receiver, do I have to connect it via component in order for the receiver to send the video signal through the component cables from the receiver to the monitor or can I connect the dvd to the receiver via S video, then the receiver translate that video signal to be transferred to the monitor via component cables? My dvd only has s video out. (older model)
The on screen display is not available through component. The 435 does not scale any other inputs to component only the AVR7300 can, the DVD player must have component for the 435's component output.
The receiver can output in S-video as well, this would be the best route as the on screen display and volume controls are capable through the S-video monitor out of the unit.
