Is there any rule of thumb on what is the appropriate size of woofer reqd for a particular room size? I trying to decide between Velodyne CHT8 and Velodyne CHT10 for a moderately sized apt with wooden floors. Listening area is about 10'x12'. Mainly for movies. Thanks
Either would be sufficient for an apartment. I usually don't install anything larger mainly because you will have complaining neighbors. In either case, since the Velodynes are forward firing, you would want to aim the speaker toward a corner or a wall, not facing you. Let me know if you want some more options or want a price.

Kar - Start with the smaller sub first, you can always exchange if you feel the need. See my answer to "Need sub help" for more reasons why this makes sense.

Thanks. I ended up buying the CHT10 since the price diff was only $20 between the 8in and 10in. I will have to place it in the corner as I see form the above post. I current have it next to my fronts.
