Bronze Member Username: PbdrPost Number: 79 Registered: Apr-05 | Here are a couple links that may be helpful: First, a good discussion of speaker wire in general http://www.roger-russell.com/wire/wire.htm#introduction Second, a recent thread about speaker wire: https://www.ecoustics.com/electronics/forum/home-audio/177297.html My opninions on the subject are that, you don't gain much if anything with expensive wire, and it is the guage that matters, with heavier better. In the first link, there is a table that suggests minimun guage per length of wire. I don't know much about shielded speaker wire, ut the few things I have seen suggest it isn't necessary. hope this helps. |

Shielding not a big issue unless you're around a strong electro-magnetic field, such as electrical power wire - in which case, avoid parallel runs closer than 12-18" and cross the wires only at perpendicular angles. I like to use flexible cable and usually purchase in 500' rolls for best price. I've been using Carol 12/2 CL3R-rated wire of recent. A good source for this is at Parts Express: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=100-742 |
